Scare in the Square Food Vendor Application

Scare in the Square is Brantford’s biggest Halloween-themed event that transforms Harmony Square (89 Dalhousie St) and Mohawk Park (51 Lynnwood Dr) into a hub of spooky fun. Attendees can enjoy interactive activities, live entertainment, marketplace featuring local vendors and more.

Below are the two locations and their corresponding dates and times for food vendors to take part in the festivities. There is a free shuttle bus between locations.

• Harmony Square (featuring family-friendly fun) on Friday, October 2, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and/or Saturday, October 3, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
• Mohawk Park (featuring events for teens and adults) on Friday, October 2, 2026 and/or Saturday, October 3, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

If you are interested in becoming a vendor at this popular outdoor event, please fill out the following application. Please note that you will be required to upload a copy of the Grand Erie Public Health Special Event Vendor Form. This form is different than your Health Unit Approval Certificate. You can download a copy online by visiting, www.bchu.org ahead of filling out this form.

Personal information on this form is collected under the authority of section 10(1) of the Municipal Act, 2001, as amended and will be used solely for contacting potential food vendors interested in participating at the City of Brantford Scare in the Square event. There are two days and times available to be a food vendor at Brantford’s Scare in the Square event. Please select the dates that you are interested in being a food vendor. Note: Only food vendors selling products not currently sold in the downtown core will be accepted to that location.

A Certificate of Insurance is required in the amount of $2 million General Liability listing the Corporation of the City of Brantford (58 Dalhousie Street. PO Box 818, Brantford, ON, N3T 2J2) as additional insured and noting that it is "For the activities held at Harmony Square, 89 Dalhousie St on October 2 and 3, 2026, Scare in the Square.”

Grand Erie Public Health Special Event Vendor Form is available at www.bchu.org. This form is different than your Health Unit Approval Certificate. 

By submitting this application, you are confirming that you understand and agree to the following terms:

• Food vendors are responsible for completing the mandatory Business License Application. The application is filled through CloudPermit which can be found here: https://ca.cloudpermit.com/gov/login.
• City of Brantford staff have the right to refuse a food vendor if they are deemed to be inappropriate or unsafe.
• Registration fees are non-refundable.
• Food vendors have no exclusivity but limits to the number of food truck types apply.
• Only food vendors selling products not currently sold in the downtown core will be accepted to the Harmony Square location.
• You may only sell and offer the products and/or services specified in your application and that are approved.
• Food vendors may only conduct business within the space allocated.
• Food vendor areas must be kept neat, and vendors must wear clean clothing and operate with proper hygiene practices and appropriate customer service principles.
• All vending equipment, garbage container(s) and debris from the site must be removed by the vendor after the event. Failure to do so will result in extra charges.
• Food vendors must comply with the provisions of all Canadian and Province of Ontario laws, City by-laws and other applicable regulations and the requirements of the Chief Building Official, Fire Department and Medical Officer of Health.
• Food vendors must provide their own source of water.
• Food vendors must bring proper storage for food. Hot foods must be kept hot and cold foods must be kept cold. Brant County Health Unit will be inspecting on the morning of the event.
• Food Vendors are required to have their own means to dispose of cooking oils, grease and wastewater. A disposal charge of $50.00 will be applied to any vendor who fails to remove these items properly.
• Your area is your responsibility, please take care of it!
