Temporary Outdoor Physical Extension (Temporary Patio)

Effective on January 1, 2023 as directed by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO):

• NEW! Most liquor sales licensees and manufacturers that hold a by-the-glass endorsement who want to operate a temporary patio will need municipal approval
• NEW! Upon obtaining an approval from a municipality, you are required to then notify the AGCO by making a submission on the iAGCO portal before selling or serving liquor on your temporary patio (see Notifying the AGCO of an Approved Temporary Patio)
• NEW! Temporary patios may only operate for a maximum of eight months per calendar year
• The City's current Temporary On-street Patio Policy allows business owners to establish a patio area on a roadway. Business owners should be aware that this could be limited to certain roads, and that they need to advise their neighbouring tenants before proceeding.

Please complete the following questions regarding the Temporary Patio Liquor Licence.

Please ensure the site layout drawing indentifies the following:

1. Size of the patio including proposed table/chair layout
2. Size and location of any/all entrances and exits from the patio
3. Location of the patio as it relates to the existing building and any fire access routes (if any) for the property
4. Location of any exits/entrances for the existing building that are near the temporary patio (especially important if a door from the building leads into the patio area)
